Row row, fight the power… Oh wait, no, this is the "merrily down the stream" kind of rowing, isn't it?

It's time to get rowing, and in Row Row, you'll be doing plenty of that. This canoe based game will see you rowing left and right, and if you want to unlock all the levels and get three stars on each stage, you'll need some advice.

On top of that, there's some interesting and pretty goofy looking boats (canoes? I never know) to unlock with in-game coins, so it's time to start stocking those up too.

Read on for all of the rowing advice you could've ever wished for.

Row Row

Big jumps, perfect paths

Right so you've been rowing down the stream, merrily so, but you still can't beat those tough time trials? Well, the first thing you'll want to look at is your rowing.

Yes you can hold either side of the screen to row, and holding both won't help - you've likely already figured this out. Therefore, the method you want to adopt is alternating between rowing on each side, for about a second in length. That is, if you wish to row forward at speed. Avoiding obstacles and taking corners will make it much more difficult.

One of the things that might help are the jump ramps you can find in the game. Sliding up one of these will send you flying down stream, avoiding any potential obstacles as you fly over, and some jumps will even skip sections of the stream entirely, cutting massive corners.

These are incredibly helpful - at least, all of them aside from one, which ended up sending me off the side of the mountain and, indeed, off into the infinite abyss that is falling through the game world. Oops.

Other than that, though? These jumps will help you perfect your paths through stages, so you should always go for them.

Annoying obstacles

There's several kinds of obstacles in Row Row. The first you'll encounter are simple rocks in your path, and the odd floating log. Frustrating, but simple to push past. The same goes for blocks of ice - they can be annoying, but they won't hold you back for long.

What's far more frustrating are whirlpools. Yikes, whirlpools. They can suck you in and spin you around. You'll want to try and take the left side of whirlpools and bypass them entirely.

Another annoying one are geysers. These will go up and down, and you'll want to do your best to pass through while it's down. Being shot up into the air is fun, but will often result in you slowing down and losing a lot of time.

A matter of time

Ah yes, time. The cruel master of the universe. The decider of fates. You might not be able to change time, but you can fight it.

You'll have already noticed that times on levels will give you stars at the end, and stars will help unlock more levels. So how do we get those good times?

Well, you need the perfect combination of what we've already mentioned. Perfect rowing, obstacle evasion, and learning the perfect path to take - especially through stages with multiple paths, like those later in the game.

More boats… Canoes?

What are the coins for? Well on the main menu screen you can tap your wee rower in the bottom right and then possibly buy a new boat to row on. I picked the duck.

What bonuses do these offer? Erm… Well, nothing, but they sure do look cool! And it's another reason to collect those coins in stages.

This does of course mean that if you're aiming for times, you should avoid coins, and if you want boats, you should grab them. Simples.
