Riven, the sequel to graphic adventure title Myst, is now available to download for your iPad from the New Zealand App Store.

This, as you probably already know, means it will hit Apple's digital stores in the UK and US sometime around midnight this evening.

The story of Riven follows on directly from the events of its predecessor. In it, you're tasked with helping protagonist Atrus free his wife from his power-hungry father, Gehn.

Unlike in Myst, where you traveled between various worlds to complete your missions, Riven takes place almost entirely on a single world that's slowly falling apart.

According to the game's developer, Cyan Worlds, all of the sights and sounds from the original release of Riven have been "remastered and meticulously re-assembled" for this iPad version.

Remarkably, Riven is compatible with every iteration of Apple's touchscreen tablet, including the first-gen iPad and the recently released iPad mini.

You'll need £3.99 / $5.99 and 1.8GB of free space on your iPad if you want to add this puzzle-packed title to your growing collection of apps, mind.
