Out at midnight: Ridge Racer Slipstream is a fast-paced drift racing game for iPad and iPhone

Ridge Racer Slipstream is the latest smartphone iteration of the classic arcade racer.

As you may have guessed from the headline, it's out in New Zealand right now, which means it'll be hitting the UK and US App Stores at midnight tonight.

There's a good chunk of fast-paced, nitrous-boosted racing for you to get your teeth into here.

And it all looks pretty impressive, too, with loads of blue sky and twisting racetracks for you to weave your neon-bright made-up car through.

There are 20 courses in all. Plus, there's a whole host of challenges, trials, and races for you to try to complete. Oh, and multiple control schemes.

On the downside, there does appear to be an awful lot of IAPs here for a premium-priced game. This is a bit of a shame.

Still, if you grew up in the arcades of the early '90s or ever owned a PSone, then you've probably got a bit of a soft spot for Ridge Racer.

Ridge Racer Slipstream will be available in the UK and US App Stores at midnight tonight, and will set you back £1.99 / $2.99.
