ROME: Total War's newest trailer gives us a peek into the iPad's battlefield controls
To war, Gentlemen
After Feral Interactive dropped the bomb last month on ROME: Total War's imminent iPad debut, the mobile community has been waiting as patiently as we can for more titbits of information. Sadly there's no solid release date as of yet but we did just get a new trailer.
This new trailer answers a few questions we've been dying to know about, especially regarding how the PC controls would look/perform when brought over to touch screen. A lot of the controls are similar to what we already know as tablet/smart phone users: drag to move the camera around, pinch to zoom, rotate using your thumb and finger, etc.
A pretty neat use of its touch screen status is how you can select units, either by tapping them individually (as you would on PC), or by drawing around a group of them to select them all. This also continues in the next stage as you send your troops to the desired location, either by tapping or by drawing the path.
Check out the trailer below for the full run-down. It's still just a snippet of what to expect but so far, so good. Let's hope all of the promise pays off come release day.
