Developer Krabwerk is fed up with the state of trivia games. That's why the upcoming Quiz Tales aims to be different to other games in the genre.

For starters, it's not just a spreadsheet in which you answer questions. Quiz Tales has a world full of amusing little animals that you progress through.

Pugs, horses, and eagles all turn up driving cars, surfing, and trying on loads of different hats. In fact, hats are the main economy in the game.

As you progress you get the chance to construct new buildings in the town. These correspond to unlocking new mechanics. It should help to keep Quiz Tales fresh as you keep playing it.

Besides this colourful world, Krabwerk has made other changes to the trivia game formula that usually prove annoying.

For example, you won't see a question you've already answered for a very long time thanks to the game's question queue.

Quiz Tales also takes your location data to make sure you don't get a question about, say, baseball if your country doesn't really follow it (and the same goes for other sports and topics).

It also has new ways to play with other people with a group vs. group mode. Answering questions is usually more fun (and easier) when there's a group of you, right?

The current plan is to bring Quiz Tales out for iOS in 2016. At the moment, Krabwerk is looking for beta testers and you can sign-up to be one right here.

Android and PC versions of the game might arrive at a later date. Or they might not.
