Auditorium follow-up Pulse coming to iPad this week

Tap your fingers to Cipher Prime’s latest blend of art and rhythm

Auditorium follow-up Pulse coming to iPad this week

The developer of freemium iOS puzzler Auditorium is set to release its follow-up for iPad this week.

After partnering with Electronic Arts for the iOS release of its last title, Cipher Prime has announced that it will be self-publishing Pulse on the App Store on May 5th.

Pocket Gamer's Tracy Erickson went hands-on with the game at GDC in March, and described it as, “an eclectic, yet totally invigorating experience”. The game involves tapping nodes to the rhythm of the music as a glowing ring passes through them.

Featuring a blend of different musical styles, the game’s rhythm-action mechanics are something of a departure from the freeform, experimental puzzling of its predecessor, though its visual style will be familiar to those who’ve played the developer’s previous games.

Auditorium’s unusual mechanics and hypnotic aesthetics earned it a Pocket Gamer Gold Award, with Jon Jordan describing it as “a beautiful, if short, fusion of music, colour and experimentation”.

Here’s hoping Cipher Prime can provide a similarly engrossing experience when Pulse hits the App Store on Thursday.
