It’s got to be - oh yeah - perfect

The minimalist and beautiful iPad music/rhythm-action game Pulse: Volume One has just received another slew of new tracks, as well as a number of changes to how the game plays that will likely pull a lot of players back into its trance-inducing fold.

One of the biggest draws for me personally is the inclusion of a new scoring system that sees the number of ‘perfect’ notes added to the final summary of each song, along with the pre-existing mark for percentage correctly struck.

Cipher Prime has also split up the track list into difficulty (out of five dots), so it’s a little easier to tell that the new track Sahara is going to be throwing out the chords and syncopated notes more often than the accordion waltz of low tide.

As with all the previous updates to the track listing, the six new tracks are from up-and -oming artists from Philadelphia, and each has its own theme in terms of colours, pace, and funky icons bursting out from correct notes.

We originally gave the game a Pocket Gamer Silver Award back when it was first released, citing the scoring system and lack of tracks as the main reasons holding it back from a higher mark. Naturally, this isn’t such a major sticking point any more.

You can grab Pulse: Volume One from the App Store for £2.49/$3.99 by hitting that button just below.
