Gamescom '13: Gold Award-winning iOS gem Pudding Panic is getting a freemium spin-off
No trifling matter
Pudding Panic - or, to use its full, revised title, The Great Jitters: Pudding Panic - is a great game that probably hasn't enjoyed the enduring success it deserves.
The gameplay is sort of a mixture of Pipe Mania and Pac-Man, and involves steering a pudding on a cart to safety by manipulating the junctions on a rail.
There are baddies to avoid, pellets to collect, and special moves to use that cost you some of the pellets you've accumulated.
Now, the original Pudding Panic is a premium game, with currency that you can only accumulate through playing.
But developer kunst-stoff clearly believes it would work as a freemium game, because that's exactly what the forthcoming Pudding Panic Reloaded (just a working title at this point) is going to be.
Just dessertsWhile Reloaded will largely be the same as the original game, kunst-stoff is keen to stress that there are significant differences - new features in every level, a new world, and at some point in the future the studio hopes to add a Monster mode in which the object is to kill rather than rescue the pudding.
And, of course, there will be IAPs.
Thankfully, no Whale Trail-style outrage is necessary as the original The Great Jitters: Pudding Panic will continue to be available at its premium price of £1.99 / $2.99.
Kunst-stoff hopes to release Pudding Panic Reloaded on iOS by the middle of September.
