Pocket RPG to level up for random dungeon action on iPad
Grind the good grind
Boasting one of the most straightforward game titles ever, Pocket RPG is shaping up for its App Store debut.
The product of South African developer Tasty Poison and US publisher Crescent Moon (of Aralon and Ravensword fame), the twin stick dungeon masher will be coming first to iPad.
The 3D levels will be randomly generated, and you'll have the option to choose between the standard three character classes in terms of Blade Master (melee), Dark Ranger (ranged), and Battle Mage (magic).
Lots and lotsOf course, you should also expect automatic skills and stat progression based on the items your character equips, lots of loot, swarms of generic-looking enemies, boss battles, and leaderboards and achievements.
There will also be two modes - Arcade Play, which has save points, and Rogue Play, which has perma death.
Still, while Pocket RPG seems to have a good graphical style, it will be the variation of gameplay flowing from the character classes that will be key.
As a someone who prefers to play as a ranged character, the ability to bounce projectiles off walls seems neat, but the sheer number of enemies shown in the video below suggests this might be another action RPG that favours melee, as indeed did Crescent Moon's game Rimelands.
Pocket RPG is due for release in February, first on iPad, and then iPhone.
