Fans of plants and haters of zombies: listen up.

PopCap appeared during EA's Gamescom keynote to reveal that it's already hard at work on a hefty update for its horticultural tower defence game Plants vs Zombies 2.

This first content pack will contain a new world, called Far Future. We can't be sure, and this is only speculation, but rumour has it that this mode will be set in the far future.

EA also revealed that its new free-to-play TD game has already been downloaded 16 million times. That's a lot. An awful lot.

Oh, EA also mentioned that you'll be able to use your SmartGlass-supported tablet to play "BossMode" in barmy Xbox One shooter Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare.

In this mode, you get a strategic top-down view of the battlefield, and can send out troops with a touch.

Did they mention if it will be free, or do we need to purchase the new world...?

For a dollar or two I'd go for it, but of course paying 0 is best.
