Digital boardgame Pirates War - The Dice King soft launches in select countries

Idiocracy Games recently announced that their digital board game, Pirates War – The Dice King, has soft-launched in selected countries on both iOS and Android.

Pirates War is technically a digital board game but with elements of card collecting as well. You play as a carefully-chosen pirate captain and use strategy and sometimes sheer luck to get a ship and build yourself a crew worthy of yarr captaining. I'm sorry I couldn't resist.

Each of your scurvy crew provides you with different skills, attack, or defence stats to be used against foes on the board. You throw the dice, move your crew across the board, and you can start purchasing land like a weird game of pirate Monopoly twinned with a little Hearthstone when things get rough.

Pirates War is currently soft-launched in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines on iOS and Android. The developers have so far said they'll see how the game goes in these countries before bringing it further afield.

If you don't live in one of the selected countries but want to give the game a go on iOS check out our guide on how to do so.
