You may ask yourself how or why Torsion Fork Studio's Paper Fox caught our eye. Yes, you may.

Well, it's quite simple, really: it's one of the Freeplay Award finalists. It's nominated in the Visual Art category, in fact. And it's very easy to see why.

The friendly world of Paper Fox is presented in superbly animated papercraft. Torsion Fork Studio also employs the use of some pretty fantastic voice acting to give further life to the characters and world.

Foxy

As for the story, the titular omnivorous mammal is rudely disturbed while napping on his favourite purple pillow. As dirt falls through his ceiling, Fox heads outside to witness a huge crack in the ground heading straight for his home.

Off he goes, then, to find out how to prevent the earthquake from destroying his home. How so? By paying a visit to the wise Owl.

All of the characters in Paper Fox are memorably quirky, and some of the writing amusingly contains some odd idioms.

Paper Fox is an interactive story, so don't expect to be running around as Fox. However, you get to make decisions about where to travel in the world next. There are also mini-games to play in some of the locations.

To give an example, you're tasked with finding all five of Owl's bookmarks in his Library Tree in the free demo. You swipe to move the camera around and tap on a bookmark when you find it.

Obviously, Paper Fox game is intended for children, but its presentation is so pleasant that it's hard to resist something so heartwarming whatever your age.

The free version of Paper Fox will last you 5-10 minutes. The full game itself will set you back £1.99 / $2.99.
