No Brakes Valet is not designed with longevity in mind. It's a slap-dash blast of craggy-edged gaming that's about cramming as many hearty cackles into three-minute stretches as is physically possible.

It's a chunk of filler, perfectly shaped to fill in the tiny gaps of life where you wish your fingers had something to do. And it's spectacularly good at it, with a simple style and perfectly poised same-device multiplayer adding to the allure.

Brake it up

The game sees you trying to guide a series of ferociously quick cars into parking spaces. You can steer left and right, and apply the somewhat limited brakes, with buttons arranged along the bottom of the screen.

Different vehicles have different characteristics. Some are packed full of explosives, while others have had their brakes severed entirely. VIPs need to be slotted into the VIP parking spaces, and if there's anyone in the disabled spaces when you've positioned all the cars you'll get a hefty fine.

There are multiple car parks for you to play in, and while things are tricky at first, once you get the hang of the controls, you'll be slipping the vehicles into the right positions with something that looks a bit like confidence.

A brief tutorial at the start of the game walks you through the basics, then you're left on your own to play through the different shaped car parks and attempt to set some respectable high scores.

Adding a second player into the mix makes for some delightful carnage, as you try and nudge your opponent's vehicles out of spaces, or into the explosive barrels or broken pickup trucks that litter some of the levels.

Brake's progress

No Brakes Valet is a riot, and in small doses delivers a sharp injection of nonsense and fun into any gaming session. Play for a little longer and the cracks start to show, though. It's a tad repetitive, and once you've got the hang of the controls some of the challenge drifts away.

Still, the multiplayer keeps things fresh, and while it might not have the staying power of some games, it makes up for it with a madcap approach to the mundane, and more laughs than a game about parking cars should feasibly be able to create.

No Brakes Valet

A little gem that's a lot of fun in short bursts, but pay too much attention to No Brakes Valet and the wheels start to fall off
