Backflip Studios – best known for iPhone casual hits Paper Toss and Ragdoll Blaster – has just released an iPad version of its popular ad-funded climbing game NinJump.

NinJump HD sees you ascending a vertically scrolling play field while avoiding squirrels, birds, other ninjas, shuriken, and bombs. Although it shares its vertical bent with Doodle Jump and its many imitators, NinJump differs in that you have to leap from wall to wall.

The game is free (“at least initially", Backflip tells Pocket Gamer) and you also can pay for an ad-free version.

In addition, Backflip will be releasing a full paid version of NinJump for iPhone later this year, featuring, “enemies and other content, with plans to add frequent updates on a regular basis.”

NinJump HD is available now on the New Zealand App Store, which means it'll hit the UK at midnight.
