Monkey Island 2 for iPad drops its price anchor to £1.19 / $1.99

Following hot on the boots of Monkey Island Special Edition, its superior sequel Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge for iPad is now also on sale for the same price.

Monkey Island 2 picks up a little while after the first game, which saw Guybrush Threepwood do battle with the ghost pirate LeChuck.

After a series of unfortunate events (and a really obscure puzzle featuring swamp water), LeChuck returns to this world, now as a decaying corpse, hell-bent on destroying Threepwood via the traditional means of waiting until you solve puzzles strewn around the islands.

For those of us who remember swapping the 11 discs of the Amiga version every time we wanted to travel to new areas, the ability to not just be able to play without stopping every two minutes, but also to walk down the stairs and rest outside while thinking over a puzzle is pure witchcraft.

The game garnered a very rare Pocket Gamer Platinum Award when it was released earlier in the year, so it really deserves to be checked out, if not for the writing then for the masterful implementation of the iPad touchscreen as an alternative to mouse-driven controls.

The Secret of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge for iPad is available to purchase from the App Store for £1.19 / $1.99 / €1.59, and can be downloaded immediately using the button below.
