Lumines is back this year on mobile with premium and free to play titles

| Lumines 2016

Lumines was once a shining example of how to do handled games right. It came out on the original PSP and was well received both critically and commercially.

Made by Q Entertainment, the makers of gems like Meteos and helmed by Tetsuya Mizuguchi (creator of the otherworldly experience Rez), it had the DNA for a great mobile experience too. Sadly, it was a failed attempt on iOS and the game wasn't what fan were asking.

Now Mobcast is trying to bring the franchise back with not one but two new Lumines games.

The first one is Lumines 2016, coming this summer to Android and iOS as a paid title. You can see the first visual from it below.

Then, towards the end of the end, Mobicast hopes to release Lumines VS, a free to play take on the franchise.

This is great then, it feels like everyone will at least have the business model that it wants. Here's hoping the gameplay will we groovy too.
