It's Earth Day so why not build and destroy your own world on your mobile device
Stay classy, planet Earth
I don't know what Earth Day is either but Facebook told me its a thing so obviously it's true.
Let's just be grateful that we don't have to send Earth a card - that's damaging to the environment and that's exactly what this celebration is fighting against. I think.
Anyway, on this most unceremonious of holidays, why not celebrate by building your own world (and then destroying it) in one of the games listed below.
It's the human way, after all.
Minecraft - Pocket Edition
By Mojang
If you don't know what Minecraft is then you quite clearly haven't been living on the same planet as everyone else so probably aren't reading this anyway.
Terraria
By 505 Games
Terraria is essentially what Minecraft would have been if it had been made for the SNES. That means 2D world building and showers of pixels.
The Blockheads
By Noodlecake Studios
Mix Minecraft and Terraria together, and The Blockheads would be its baby. It's 2D and contains lots of pixels just like Terraria but the blocky style and focus on survival is all Minecraft.
Junk Jack XJunk Jack X is a lot like Terraria except it focuses a lot more on creation than going off on whimsical, 2D adventures.
The Sandbox
By PIXOWL
Want to be a God? The Sandbox is for you. You can mess with the elements, add life forms, and - erm - drive around in a sports car. You can do everything, basically.
Topia World Builder
By Crescent Moon Games
If you think Topia looks reminiscent of the Populous games (particularly Populous 3) well, that's because it's made by Glenn Corpes, my almost-namesake and one of the creators of the original Populous.
Godus
By 22Cans
Then we have Godus, the controversial world-builder by the other creator of Populous, Peter Molyneux. You may have heard of him.
MOUNTAIN
By David O'Reilly
Less of a world-builder and more of a mountain-simulator, MOUNTAIN has the most apt title of a video game ever. It's also incredibly pretty.
