Since Ubisoft brought back the colourful 2D platformer with style with its recent Rayman titles, I've been on the hunt for more.

My craving for cute, silly, and treacherous sidescrolling worlds seems like it will be served in Mighty Adventure. So you can be damn sure we're going to take a look at this game right now.

Firstly, it's worth noting that this is developer Pixel Trap Studio's first game.

However, the team consists of members who used to work for Ubisoft, EA, and Gameloft - they should know what they're doing.

Triple dip

Mighty Adventure is a platformer runner in which you play three characters at the same time. Well, almost. In fact, you have to switch between them to traverse the levels.

They each have unique abilities, you see. One can stomp, another can double jump, and the last one dashes. You'll need to switch to the right one at the right time to overcome various obstacles.

The flourishing cartoon worlds is what really grabs my attention. Flying fish act as transportation, houses look like bizarre totems, and angry creatures line up with spears to stop you.

In terms of design the levels are typical of the genre, with plenty of enemies to bounce on, and a trail of bubbles to collect.

But, saying that, you're encouraged to go as fast as possible across them. You're chasing the Big Boss who has stolen Elder Master through the levels. You've got to try to keep up.

We'll be able to see how Mighty Adventure fares when it releases for iOS on July 10th. It will cost £1.49 / $2.99. You can find out more details on its website.
