Industrial Toys decloaks to reveal Morning Star, its 'reimagining of the sci-fi shooter'

Depending on your viewpoint, Morning Star is either a left wing British newspaper, the planet Venus, or according to the poet John Milton, Lucifer.
And now we have another addition to the list, with the announcement that US start up Industrial Toys' debut iOS shooter will be called Morning Star.
First of many?Set up by an impressive collection of developers ranging from Bungie co-founder Alex Seropian to folks from Dreamworks, Marvel and DC, the game has been in development for six months or so, using the Unreal Engine.
The developer is keen to stress this is more than just a single game, however, with plenty of additional content expected to be released to deepen what it's already calling the Morning Star universe.
For example, well known sci-fi writer John Scalzi is heavily involved in proceedings.
Set 120 years into Earth's future, Morning Star will take place aboard the MSRV Joplin, a research vessel newly outfitted with military weaponry, which is sent to explore a mysterious signal from within our Solar System.
Ground upAs for the game itself, Industrial Toys says one of the revolutionary aspects will be the control method, something that it says is fundamental to the game's level design and even the types of weapons you'll get your hands on.
It's also promising to approach features such as multiplayer and community, replayability and AI in an exciting manner, while graphical effects such as full-screen distortion, high-definition shadows and HDR lighting have been stressed.
"With Morning Star, we're looking to change expectations for what kind of experience core gamers get from their mobile devices," said Seropian.
"We're breaking new ground on everything from the visuals to the story to the ongoing support we'll provide in the way of content, events and player involvement. It's gonna be nuts."
We expect plenty more information to emerge before Morning Star is released for iOS devices in spring 2013.
