Magicka: Wizards of the Square Tablet heading to iOS and Android on Thursday

The wacky warlocks from Paradox Interactive's Magicka: Wizards of the Square Tablet are set to materialise on iOS and Android this Thursday.

Instead of directly porting the isometric PC title, Paradox decided this mobile version of the elementally charged fantasy adventure should take a different form.

For starters, Magicka: Wizards of the Square Tablet abandons its isometric roots and becomes a 2D side-scroller.

The visuals have taken on a more playful quality in the transition, too, with the four faceless mage protagonists now resembling Warner Bros. cartoon characters.

Despite these changes, however, Magicka: Wizards of the Square Tablet is still a Magicka game at heart.

As always, you must bend seven elemental powers to your will, and use them to defeat a series of monstrous enemies.

By combining these elements, you can conjure a wise array of spells and sizzling attacks - enough, we dare say, to make Gandalf himself put down his pipe and pay attention.

If you fancy trying out a few incantations of your own (and have £1.49 / $1.99 spare), you'll be able to summon Magicka: Wizards of the Square Tablet onto iPad and Android slates this Thursday.
