Contrary to what you might be thinking, the rooster in Mad Rooster isn't actually angry (and by extension, the game isn't a goofy retitling of Angry Birds).

Instead, he's the bonkers kind of mad. The kind of mad that leads to strapping twin rockets on and careening through a gauntlet of death traps for no discernible reason.

Although he does grab a bunch of coins along the way, so maybe he's actually just greedy?

To infinity…

Mad Rooster is an endless vertical flyer in which you guide the goofy bird around plumes of fire, massive snakes, and try your best not to explode.

Dragging left and right along the screen will make the crazy avian swoop from side-to-side, and there's this handy spot towards the bottom that's usually devoid of important stuff so it's an ideal spot to place your finger.

Oddly the movement seems ever so slightly behind your actual swipes, which ends up leaving the rooster a few pixels off when moving towards either of the far edges of the screen - not great when you're trying to skirt past giant fireballs and the like.

You'll want to get used to the slight offset in a hurry, though. There are lots and lots of coins sprinkled around all these hazards and they aren't going to collect themselves.

Flash-fried

The more coins you hoard, the more you can spend on power-up upgrades, new characters, temporary boosts, and swanky jet packs. The more you upgrade, the farther you'll fly, and the farther you fly, the more coins you'll be able to collect.

The various power-ups and upgrades really aren't all that interesting, though. The goofy-looking jetpacks are nice, and the fact that the bonus characters have their own unique abilities make them worth a look, but most everything else is pretty much just "this lasts longer".

Still, despite the somewhat lackluster things to spend your hard-earned coins on, the core of Mad Rooster is pretty entertaining. For a while, anyway.

A fun, if flawed endless flyer that'll have you smiling for a while
