Lost Yeti is a cute-looking puzzler with a cruel streak running through its eminently ticklish belly.

Some of its block-moving levels are simple, while others are fiendish combinations of traps, obstacles, and vile baddies that'll pound your yeti to the floor.

It's remarkably simple to play, with a swipe here and a swipe there creating a path for the podgy little yeti to trundle down, but there's enough head-scratching challenge to keep you playing until well after the cutesy graphics have lost their charm.

Lost time

Each level of the game is a malleable maze. There are sections you can slide around, each of them highlighted with an arrow. You need to move these blocks so that the titular abominable snowman can grab all the lollies and make it to the chequered flag that marks the exit.

The yeti turns clockwise once it hits a wall, and if there's a spike trap or an enemy in the way he'll blithely walk into it and reset the level. The bad guys can also be persuaded to wander into traps if you're clever enough, and later in the game they'll even melt blocks of ice for you to escape through.

There are star blocks that disappear when you match them together, crates that the yeti will happily smash through, and a variety of other obstacles, pit falls, and aids that help and hinder your progress through the levels.

Of particular annoyance are the robot blocks that develop a mind of their own when you plop an ice block next to them. They'll happily close off your exit before you've even had a chance to divert your course.

Blocky

There's a rich variety of levels on offer, split into different zones so the backdrops never get too samey. And while the central core of the game isn't exactly fresh, the accoutrements layered on top make it unlikely that you'll mind too much.

Lost Yeti is a well-put-together, occasionally challenging puzzler with a neat art style and a clever central hook. It's unlikely you'll lose much sleep over it, but it'll definitely keep you entertained, and smiling, while you're in its company.
