Jon Chey 'can't see any reason' why Blue Manchu won't release free-to-play Card Hunter on iPad

Last month, Blue Manchu released Card Hunter, a browser-based free-to-play mixture of card game and boardgame.

And it looks like it could be heading to iOS in the not-too-distant future.

Speaking to Gamasutra, Blue Manchu's Jon Chey has revealed the developer has already got a prototype of the game running on an iPad. It's just a matter of finding the manpower to push the tablet version out.

"We do have a tablet prototype. You just build the Adobe Air version at the same time as the Flash plugin version. We have that up and running on an iPad."

"It's great, we just need to do all the touch controls on it. I can't see any reason why we won't [release that]. The only reason we haven't yet is because of manpower."

Card Hunter is a delightfully geeky combination of dice rolls, in-jokes, GM screens, and fantasy archetypes. And it's all presented like a cut-out-and-play boardgame.

Chey certainly has some gaming pedigree, by the way, for he co-founded Irrational Games and worked on the likes of System Shock 2 and BioShock.

As soon as we hear anything more about the possible Card Hunter iPad port, we'll be sure to let you know.
