How to prepare your clan for Fortress Siege in Lineage 2: Revolution

Lineage 2: Revolution, developed by Netmarble, brings the hit South Korean MMORPG franchise to mobile. The game features a few fresh elements, such as auto-questing and touch screen controls, but fans of the series will be in familiar territory otherwise. Thanks to its first update since being released in Europe and North America, there’s now more PvP mayhem to prep your clan for. Here’s what you need to know about the Fortress Siege and Open Siege tournaments of Lineage 2: Revolution.

Fortress Siege

During Fortress Siege, you engage in a 30-minute capture-the-castle tournament with a rival clan. There can be up to 50 of you on each side, so a total of 100 players at any one time battling it out. Winners reap rewards including red diamonds and buffs, but taking part guarantees at least some EXP, Adena and Proof of Blood, whether you win, lose or draw.
In order to participate, clans must enter a bid of Adena for their desired fortress, so make sure there’s plenty donated in the clan kitty. You can gain the in-game currency by completing daily quests, and farming in the Adena Dungeon is a safe bet. The fortress bidding is held from midnight to 7pm PST every Thursday. If your bid is successful, you can join the fray the following day, fighting to take control of your desired fortress. The Fortress Siege tournament is held every Friday from 8.30pm – 9pm PST.

Prepare your clan

Only players level 11 and above can participate, so ensure each of your clan is at least at this point. However, you should think twice before rushing in if you’re only just at this baseline, since you’re likely to be competing against high-level players who could wipe the floor with you. Spend some time getting all of your clan members to competitively high levels.

Feasts

An army marches on its stomach, so feast ahead of the fight. You can prepare clan feasts of three sizes (small, medium and large), and the bigger the feast, the bigger the buffs. Invite all of your clan to dine so they can benefit as a unit before entering the siege.

Buy buffs

Your clan shop features multiple buffs, offering stat boosts ranging from increased combat power to additional defence. These can be crucial in securing a Fortress Siege win, so spend wisely.

Rare is better

Rare weapons and armour offer better PvP stats than regular weapons, making them the ideal choice for clan members entering Fortress Siege. Avoid combining rare equipment in an effort to upgrade it, as this reduces the rarity. Upgrade your rare equipment with upgrade stones instead.

How to win

The aim of the game is simple: ‘imprint’ on your enemy’s Holy Artefact before your rival clan does so to yours.

Of course, there are a few obstacles in the way making that easier said than done. Two defence towers protect each fortress gate, and your clan will need to work together to destroy both before they can breach the fortress. Capture the altars within the grounds of the fortress to benefit from clan-wide attack buffs, giving you the edge over your enemy. Don’t forget to make tactical retreats to the healing pool whenever your health gets dangerously low.

Once your combined efforts have demolished the gates’ defence towers, you can breach the fortress and reach your enemy’s Holy Artefact at the other end of the map. More defence towers lie in wait, though, so be prepared for further battle. You can capture the Holy Artefact by touching it – this will slowly fill up a bar. Once it’s full, your clan has successfully ‘imprinted’ on the Holy Artefact. It’s game over for your rivals, and victory for your clan.

Open Siege

Open Siege is a smaller scale, less exclusive twist on Fortress Siege, featuring 30-vs-30 tournaments. You still have to be level 11 or above, but unlike Fortress Siege, you don’t have to be part of a clan to join in. Team up with any players competing to take control of a rival fortress. Also unlike Fortress Siege, all players are given equal combat power and level. You choose your class and race ahead of the siege, which makes it an ideal opportunity to test out character styles you’re unfamiliar with. You’re still competing for rewards, albeit less than in Fortress Siege. Open Siege is held every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8.30pm – 9pm PST.

Along with the new siege tournaments, the update introduces three new servers to Europe and North America: Kruma 05, Kenrauhel 07 and Deforge 06. That should ease pressure on existing servers so everything runs a little more smoothly.
