Paradox jazzes things up with smooth Leviathan: Warships update
Ship just got real
Leviathan Warships is a serious turn-based strategy game for serious turn-based strategy fans. It's serious. Seriously.
In fact, we'd argue that it could do with lightening up a little. Intense retro-futuristic warfare can't be all grim, can it?
Paradox Interactive must have been reading our minds, because it's just launched the first major update for Leviathan: Warships, and it seems to have eased up on the hardcore nautical skirmish theme. A little.
All that jazzVersion 1.1 of Leviathan: Warships introduces Jazzy Mode. This involves a new smooth jazz soundtrack - just what you want when you're sailing into war with a fleet of heavily customised battleships - and laid-back announcements from one Jazzy Boatman.
This cool customer has all the urgency and aggression of your average stoned musician. The contrast appears to be slightly odd to say the least, but we give full marks to Paradox Interactive for trying something different.
If you'd like a taster of Jazzy Boatman's slick contribution, check out the video below.
In addition to these light-hearted additions, Paradox has made some meaningful improvements to the core game.
The prices of the ships have been rebalanced, as have some of the weapons. There are also a couple of UI tweaks, increased server stability, and a few bug fixes thrown into the jazzy mix.
Version 1.1 of Leviathan: Warships is available now for iPad and Android. Real smooth, man.
