Kickstart this: A racing wheel that fits around your iPad, great for tilt controls
Proper racing at last
The KOLOS Wheel should have happened a long time ago.
It's a racing wheel that fits snugly around your iPad. You just put the tablet in the centre. And then, when playing tilt-control racing games, you just turn it like any other wheel.
You can hold it in your hands and play it like that. Or you can attach it to a table or similar surface, lock the clamps, and have a proper steering wheel mount. Pretty neat.
It's currently on Kickstarter where its creators are looking to raise $100,000 to push it into mass production.
It's compatible with any 9.7 inch iPad, so that's 2, 3, 4, Air, and Air 2. And to demonstrate that, its creator Ivaylo Kalburdzhiev shakes an iPad around in the steering wheel while its upside-down. Looks pretty sturdy.
KOLOS Inc., the company behind this wheel, also show it working with games including Asphalt 8: Airborne, GT Racing 2, Riptide GT 2, Skiing Fred, and more.
The Kickstarter tiers are staggered so that those who get in early with their dosh can get a KOLOS Wheel cheaper than others.
The first tier is $45 limited to 100 units, then $49 limited to 500 units, another 500 units at $55, and then 1000 units at $59.
So if you want to get it for cheaper make sure you get in there quick.
