Injustice 2 beginner's tips - How to get started

| Injustice 2

Injustice 2 seems to be going down a treat on the App Store and Google Play Store right now.

Harry may have called it "a solid but unremarkable brawler" in his review, but when it comes to superheroes punching each other in the face, who needs critical appraisal?

One thing you might need is a few tips to get you started. Follow these simple tips, and you'll hit the ground running like The Flash.

Collect lots of characters

It sounds obvious, but it should be stated plainly that there's no benefit in sticking with a small team in Injustice 2. The name of the game here is to collect as many characters as you can, so you should buy a new hero chest whenever you have earned enough shards.

There are very practical reasons for this, chiefly the ability to chop and change your team depending on the opposition and the ability to send unused characters off to complete Operations.

We'll discuss both of these elements separately.

Tag in heroes with a class advantage as soon as you can

Perhaps the most important mechanic in Injustice 2 is switching to the appropriate character class. Each character belongs to a one of five classes, which are generally strong against one of the others and weak against one of the others, meaning bonus attack damage.

It goes like this: Meta>Tech>Might>Agility>Meta. Magic is neither particularly strong or weak against any class. There are also other characters with specific strengths - Wonder Woman, for example, gets a boost again men.

The important thing to do, once you have yourself enough characters, is weigh up the opposition and adjust your roster accordingly.

When you're actually in the fight, switch to characters with a class advantage as soon as you can - they really can pile on the damage. You can tell at a glance by the green icon they'll have alongside their picture.

Always keep your Operations slots filled

Keeping on top of the Operations mode is a no-brainer. It allows you to keep you less active characters levelled up, and earns you a stack of bonus currency into the bargain. Don't leave any slots free.

Dodge when you see red lightning

When you see little red lightning symbols appeal near your opponent, use the dodge (swipe left) move.

Effective combos

Hammering the screen for a three hit combo is Injustice 2's bread and butter, but you can add to your opponent's woes by starting off with a dash attack (also handy for getting into range quickly) and finishing with a sweep.

Don't forget your equipment

You'll acquire bits of equipment throughout your time with Injustice 2. Don't ignore them! Make sure you go into the Roster, select the characters that have new equipment, and add the appropriate gear. It'll enhance your heroes' fighting ability considerably.
