 IPAD NEWS - UPDATE

Fruit Ninja developer Halfbrick lays off over half of its staff

An unfruitful start to the week

Summary News Review Screens Videos Articles Tips
Product: Halfbrick news | Developer: Halfbrick Studios
For: iPad

Halfbrick Studios, the folks who brought you Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride, seriously downsized their team this week, letting around 30 employees go. Gamesindustry.biz reports the company is shifting to a new strategy in which they’ll be focusing on their current IPs rather than developing new games.

Fruit Ninja

That means the team will be putting all of their efforts into Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride. Halfbrick saw considerable success with these two games, but has struggled to follow up since, a struggle symptomatic to the heavily saturated mobile games industry. We just reported last week that Halfbrick was looking for testers for its upcoming puzzle game Raskulls Online, but the game’s future is now up in the air.

What do you think this news means for Halfbrick Studios? Let us know in the comments below.
