Haegemonia: Legions of Iron is a huge space-based strategy and resource management game that's out now for iPad and Android

If you're looking for a massive, intricate game of space-based strategy, Haegemonia: Legions of Iron could be right up your street.

It's a conversion of the successful PC game, and it's out right now on iPad and Android.

The game sees you trying to build a planetary empire, and fighting huge real-time space battles with loads of swooshy zappy lasers and space explosions and all that sort of thing.

There's base-building and resource gathering, but in the traditional sense of those terms.

As you might expect from such a grand strategic experience, there's a ridiculous amount of inventions and spaceships to build, 50 different kinds of planets to discover, and a bunch of different hero types with their own skill trees.

We've got a review in the works as I type this sentence, and it should be hitting the site sometime later in the week, if you'd like to wait and see whether the game has made the treacherous crossing from PC to touchscreen successfully.

Alternatively, there's a demo version of the game you can grab from the App Store [download] and the Google Play Store [download] for nothing.

It features the first four missions in the game, and if you like what you see you can buy the rest as an IAP.

Or, if you're reckless and like to rush headlong into these things, you can grab the whole kaboodle from the App Store [buy] and the Google Play Store [buy] for £2.49 / $3.99.
