[Update] Google Play is celebrating International Women's Day with a category dedicated to games and developers

Update: Apple adds a few relevant features

Product: Google Play | Manufacturer: Google

Update on March 8 at 13:05: Apple has updated its store with a feature on games with strong female protagonists as well including the excellent Agent A and Life is Strange and also features Reigns: Her Majesty, a game written by Leigh Alexander, as its game of the day.

It's still a bit weird to me that we need a day to celebrate Women (as that should be done naturally everyday) but seeing the recent news and movements, it seems that we do indeed need it more than ever.

Google is taking the lead in the mobile space it seems with a big feature on women and games, featuring apps and games made by women and strong female protagonists in game.

For games then, this means that titles like the excellent A Normal Lost Phone, made by three women, is featured quite prominently but you can also find classics KAMI 2, Lara Croft GO, République, the latest Layton and more.

The App Store has some stories about women in its today page but nothing focused on gaming that we could see.
