GDC 2018 Diary Day Two: Anime games and anime parties

Dear diary,

It turns out the party did not have any balloons after all! Instead there was a lot of people dancing about and drinking things. It was not like the parties I am used to, and it went on very late! I did not get much sleep as a result!

Yesterday was quite busy, as Bandai Namco directed me onto a bus and drove me to a nightclub with some other friendly people to look at a heap of their games. We even saw a trailer for a new Dragon Ball Super movie, but you can't tap movies without getting some funny looks, which is a shame.

Most of my time was spent on Dragon Ball Legends, which is absolutely brilliant and I was instantly amazing at. I didn't lose a single game! Until one of the Bandai Namco staff came over and coached my opponent on how to play it, and then I lost, which I think is bad and wrong.

I also got to spend some time with Sword Art Online: Integral Force, which has been out in Japan for a few months now but is finally coming to the West. It has a lot of customisation and it actually feels like a recreation of Sword Art Online! It could be very exciting indeed.

There was also Naruto x Boruto: Ninja Voltage, which is all about building and attacking fortresses with Naruto characters and is already out, and One Piece: Bounty Rush, where you beat up One Piece characters for coins in 8-player battles. And there were these tiny burgers we ate! It was lovely.

That took up most of my day! In the evening I went to a party called The Anime Party, and then onto the other party, called The Other Party. I have yet to find any balloons, but I did get the chance to see some weird and wacky games!

Today is the first actual day of GDC, and hopefully I'll have some time to go see the games on the show floor! I will also be spending most of my time judging the Big Indie Pitch, which is always an exciting event with plenty of great games to see and nice new friends to make.

Maybe one of them will bring me a balloon? I hope so!

Love you, diary!
