The Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winning strategy darling Frozen Synapse has received a new expansion pack dubbed Red today.

While Red will set you back $2 / £1.49, it'll bring a whole lot more of the fast-paced fun and frustration that you've come to expect from Frozen Synapse.

In addition to a full co-op mode (2 vs. AI) for all single player campaign content, Red also adds a new Riot Shield unit, a new "Upload" multiplayer mode, 15 new single player campaign missions, and 10 new single player challenge missions.

Also, for the audiophiles, Red comes with six new music tracks to supplement the new "Red Mode" which - as you might guess - makes everything a beautiful shade of vermillion.

In a show of munificence, Mode 7 notes that all the multiplayer content introduced in Red can be shared between expansion owners and non-owners.

In our review of Frozen Synapse, we called it "one of those rare strategy games in which immediacy is married with frightening depth" before noting that the "knife-edge tension of every session means your 50th game is every bit as exciting and unpredictable as your first."

Red is available for download now in the US and UK and should roll out to other territories in short order.
