It's the game that won't stop getting bigger. It's infected our iPhones, iPads, Switch consoles, and it'll soon be on Android. Yep, it's that behemoth, Fortnite.

This time Fortnite's latest path 5.2 is adding a big new gun, brand new limited time modes, and a few quality of life features for portable fans.

Take a look at the update info below, and let us know if you'll be jumping back into Fortnite in the comments below.

1
The big gun

The update you're all most excited about, of course, is the big gun. Patch 5.2 has brought with it a brand new Double Barrel Shotgun, available in Epic and Legendary variants.

Those who love sneaking around the corners of buildings will adore this, as the damage it does at close range is obscene.

Search for it on the ground in the usual spawn locations, in chests, or in vending machines.

Steady storm

Fortnite has added yet another limited time mode and should log in now to see what it's all about.

The new Steady Storm mode has no safe zones, and instead, a single, ever-closing circle that you must navigate. Rough.

This makes things interesting though, as players are less likely to hunker down in a single area, since they will never know how long they'll be safe for.

Switch buffs

Things are only getting better for those of you playing on the Nintendo Switch version of Fortnite!

Epic have continued to optimise the game, and they now report that their results are showing fruit, and the dynamic resolution of the game should be higher while playing now.

That's lovely, of course, and you'll get a 10% boost to pixel count, but you’re not likely to actually notice a difference in action…

4
iOS on point

The Nintendo Switch version isn't the only one getting upgraded, as we've got some smoother gameplay happening on the iOS version, too.

The last Fortnite update added the ability to background download updates, so you might've noticed that happen with this one. In addition to that, certain iOS devices may soon be able to break the game's 30FPS cap, if desired, thanks to a FPS mode setting.

There's also a new fire mode selection screen, which will allow you to choose between auto fire, tap anywhere to fire, and having a fixed fire button on screen. Or all of the above, if you like.
