App Army Assemble: Eggggg - The most unique platformer mobile's ever seen?

Eggggg is a bit of an odd proposition. You play as Gilbert, a boy with an extreme egg allergy, who has to use his egg-induced projectile-vomiting ability to escape his evil aunt Doris and a horde of cyborg chickens in order to make it to a birthday party in time.

Yeah.

Despite the slightly repulsive premise, Eggggg is actually lovely to behold thanks to some Cartoon Network-esque visuals. There's also plenty of game here, with 20 action-packed platforming levels and a sticker pack for iMessage.

We'll have the full PG review with you shortly, but in the meantime you can enjoy the words of our expert collection of mobile gaming experts in the App Army.

Swapnil Jadhav

Eggggg has egg-cellent (sorry, couldn't help myself - ed) graphics and controls - though they do take a bit of getting used to. Really enjoying this so far.

Tom Clark

If you don't mind projectile vomit in abundance, then you are in for a treat with this side scrolling platformer. It's very well put together and the levels are challenging and engaging. It also looks great and the controls are simple and intuitive.

Olivier Boesch

Despite the fact we tell our kids not to, Eggggg encourages them to play with their food - projectile vomiting proves quite the weapon!

It's a bit disgusting, sure, but it does result in a platformer that's both fun and innovative. Once you get over it.

The controls are a bit difficult to get used to though - especially at level six, where timing is important. Virtual controls would have been more convenient.

Kainen Ryan

This reminds me of Mario - I'm really enjoying it. It's fun, funny, and looks lovely.

It's a joy to play as well, with hidden areas to discover, great attention to detail, and humour in abundance. This is a keeper for sure.

Quincy Jones

This is one of the best games I've played all year. The world they've created is beautiful and there's so much going on - it's incredible.

The music and sound perfectly fit, and really put you in the mood to have some silly fun. The controls are spot on as well and are well-suited to the unique gameplay.

Laura Egri

Eggggg will put a smile on your face. Everything from the colours, characters, and sounds is childish and playful - in a good way.

The controls take some getting used to but you'll soon be expertly launching yourself around with a stream of vomit.

You can play at your own pace and it's pretty easy to forget that you're projectile vomiting. I like to think of it as paint instead.
