Hardcore roguelike Dungeon of the Endless has been out for almost a year on PC, and developer Amplitude Studios has just announced that it's coming to iPad this summer.

This much-celebrated genre mash-up channels FTL, XCOM, and tower defence. It sees you crash-landing on a hostile alien planet and attempting to escape through a 12-storey dungeon, room by randomly generated room, gathering resources, deploying towers, and dying.

The PC version of Dungeon of the Endless received critical acclaim (79 on Metacritic if you must know) thanks to its challenging, expansive, and well-balanced tactical gameplay.

Like FTL, it's a good candidate for an iPad port thanks to its touchscreen-friendly interface, and the iPad version will come with the Deep Freeze and Bookworm PC add-ons too.

There's no word yet on an exact release date or price, but we have of course made enquiries.

We'll be bringing you hands-on impressions from Gamescom next week.
