Mythic and EA have announced that they're working on a new Dungeon Keeper game for iOS and Android, which is set to be released towards the end of the year.

Simply called Dungeon Keeper, the game is all about building your own subterranean hellhole, filling it with traps, tunnels, and bloodthirsty minions who are willing to indulge your every whim.

EA is promising a blend of strategy, building, and tower defence, all wrapped up in a free-to-play package.

You'll be able to invade other players' dungeons and unleash hell with your Hand of Evil, leading your minions to victory and occupying the underworld piece by piece.

It'll be interesting to see how EA and Mythic mix a free-to-play system with the strategy of the original games. This iOS and Android iteration is certainly looking the part, mind, with chunky cartoon graphics and pleasantly dank caverns.

Dungeon Keeper is scheduled for release in winter 2013. Until then, why not check out the screenshots in the gallery at the top of the page.
