Go back to the 1980s with the classic MacVenture games, now out on iOS
Acceptable in the '80s
Here's a treat that quietly popped up out of nowhere. Familiar with the MacVenture series? If you are, all you'll need to know is that all four of the games are on iOS now.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's what's up...
The MacVenture series spans four point-and-click adventure games that were made for the Apple Macintosh between 1985 and 1988.
They've also been released on retro gaming consoles such as the NES, C64, and Atari ST.
Characteristic in all four games is being able to pick up and drop most inventory objects wherever you'd like. This meant you could forget where you put objects and have to search for them.

They also have non-linear exploration of their layered environments. You'll be going back-and-forth quite a lot, retrieving items and opening up new puzzles and areas.
There are two noir-ish detective stories, a haunted house ghost story, and a fantasy quest in the series.

And don't worry, these are legit. Zojoi, the company selling these on the App Store, was founded by David Marsh and Karl Roelofs.
The pair is the same that created the original series at ICOM Simulations back in the '80s.
