It was good on PC and great on iPhone so we can only hope that Lazy 8 Studio's Cogs will be even better on iPad.

It's a 3D puzzle game that has you sliding around various objects to connect up pipes, rebuild clockwork mechanisms and arrange hammers to hit bells in time with each other.

A 3D steampunk puzzler in fact.

Our reviewer Damien reckoned: "Cogs is a finely tuned puzzle experience that does well in getting the gears in your head moving."

And now gaining the traditional HD moniker for iPad, Cogs HD has been tweaked in terms of the graphics and user interface, plus support for publisher Chillingo's Crystal social gaming network has been added so you can earn achievements, connect with friends and compete for standings in regional, national and global leaderboards.

Rob Jagnow, founder of Lazy 8 Studios, said, "The iPad is an ideal device for Cogs HD. Every aspect of the game, from the puzzles to the tiniest detail of the user interface, was designed to make the player feel like they're interacting with a giant machine. The high-resolution touchscreen on the iPad is perfect for rounding out that immersive experience."

Cogs HD is out now and priced at $4.99, €3.99 or £2.99.
