Just as we wrote about this morning, Tencent has bought, with other investors, 84% of Supercell from SoftBank for $8.6 billion. This means that Supercell is now worth $10.2 billion, a staggering amount of money for such a small and mobile-focused company.

So what does this means for the creator of Clash Royale and Clash of Clans? Well, in a blog post posted today, Supercell founder explains that nothing will change and that Supercell will remain independent and will still operate in Helsinki. Supercell will remain privately owned and will have a new way of boosting its games in China thanks to Tencent's huge market.

This deal also means that Tencent is, now by far, the biggest videogame company on the planet even if it's not quite known here in the west. Riot, the maker of League of Legends, only grew when Tencent bought them so I'm quite looking forward to the future of Supercell. You may not always like their games but they definitely are doing something right.
