Chronicle: Runescape Legends is Jagex's upcoming Hearthstone-aping digital CCG for smartphones and tablets

Jagex, the developer behind the highly succesful MMO Runescape, has announced that it's working on a digital collectable card game called Chronicle: Runescape Legends.

Although that's just a working title, so it might end up being called something else. We don't have that much info about the game at the moment, other than the bits of info Jagex has released in a press release.

Apparently the game will focus on "quest building" which lets you design your own mini RPGs full of scraps against monsters. There'll also be a PvP element, because card games are way more fun when you're playing against another human being.

Development started earlier in the year, and this will represent Runescape's first foray into the mobile world. So that's pretty exciting.

The screenshot above is the only thing we've actually seen of Chronicle: Runescape Legends, but it certainly looks impressive. Almost like it's taken the next step on from Hearthstone's shinification of the digital CCG.

Obviously that market is getting a little more crowded than it once was, with yearly Magic the Gathering releases, Blizzard's Hearthstone, and even the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online all available on the App Store.

We'll let you know when we hear any more about Chronicle: Runescape Legends, but you can file this one in the folder marked "certainly looks interesting' for the time being.
