Chromaticon proves that there are still ways to make colour-matching feel fresh and challenging.

The game sees you rotating the multi-coloured shields surrounding a vulnerable core in order to fend off incoming objects.

These shield sections are invulnerable to objects of the same colour. Some objects have two colours, meaning you can use more than one shield to block - but this conversely makes things more confusing and give you more decisions to make.

It's a really interesting idea, and the execution is mostly fine, but the controls are off. You tilt your iOS device to rotate the shields either way, but there's too much inertia to your shields' movement.

Given the clinical sci-fi theme and high difficulty level, this seems out of place. A sharper degree of responsiveness would have been a much better fit.

As it is, Chromaticon is a good puzzler that's a decent control system away from being an excellent one.
