Cannon-blasting platformer Bullet Boy has been soft-launched on the New Zealand App Store
Just like Donkey Kong Country
Pomelo Games has soft-launched its fast-paced platformer Bullet Boy on the New Zealand App Store today.
"We are doing a soft-launch at the moment in New Zealand to get feedback from players," Federico Romero of Pomelo Games told us.
"We'll continue adding more content to the game while we do this. If everything goes well, we plan to release early next year," Romero added.
We first caught sight of Bullet Boy back in March as it came second in one of our Big Indie Pitches. It popped up again in May when Pomelo released a playable trailer.
It's a platformer that plays like those barrel-blasting sections in Donkey Kong Country. The idea is to tap at the right time to shoot the bullet boy from cannon-to-cannon.
This is made harder as the barrels rotate, and bats fly across your path in later levels, requiring that you time when you shoot each cannon.
Extra pressure is added as a cop chases you, too. While some variety is provided by low-gravity dodging sections during which you tap-and-hold to make the boy rise, letting go so he sinks.
If you've got a New Zealand iTunes account you can download Bullet Boy on the App Store right now.
Otherwise, you'll have to wait until early next year when it hopefully arrives on iOS and Android around the world.
