BlazBlue: Battle Cards is a hybrid card battler and 2D fighting game heading to iOS this autumn

Fans of 2D fighting game series BlazBlue may find themselves reeling in horror upon reading the next sentence - you have been warned.

Aksys Games has announced that Alliance Digital Media and Metaversal Studios are creating BlazBlue: Battle Cards. Yep, it's apparently a hybrid of card battler and fighting game.

Are you still holding together? Good. It's to be expected that a popular fighting game comes to smartphones as a card battler these days. It still shocks some people, mind.

We're not entirely sure how this hybridisation will work. Presumably you'll dish out moves with your cards and then watch your fighter perform them with a satisfying grin.

That would be the most ideal result. The worst scenario would be a straight card battler with no animations at all. The teaser trailer above suggests that won't be the case, luckily.

If nothing else, at least the card art will be decent given that it has been taken directly from BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma.

As well as single player fights, BlazBlue: Battle Cards will have an online multiplayer mode. There will be 12 playable characters to choose from.

It will be released on iOS in autumn of 2014. Other platforms, including Android, are being considered.
