Historical iPad strategy game Battle of the Bulge advances on Kickstarter

The combined talent of the newly founded Shenandoah Studio entered into the mobile game market for one reason: to bring top quality, serious strategy games to the iPad.

Over the weekend, Shenandoah turned to Kickstarter with a modest goal of $20,000 in mind to launch their first game Battle of the Bulge - a historical and educational game to appeal to strategists and history buffs alike.

As of late Monday afternoon, the project sits at $13,000 with 28 days left in the campaign.

Manning the Siegfried Line

Although new to mobile gaming, Shenandoah Studio boasts a roster of career tabletop wargame designers with a reported 160 years of combined industry experience between them.

Leading the charge for Battle of the Bulge is John Butterfield, who has been publishing historical war games since 1978 and is a member of the Board Game Design Hall of Fame.

Battle of the Bulge is a historical strategy game based on the 1944 German offensive in the Ardennes Forest.

The gameplay promises to be fast-paced with an underlying deep strategy that one would expect to find in familair tabletop wargames like Axis & Allies.

Tanks for the memories

Being an inherently social group of gamers, Shenandoah Studio was quick to include support for multiple simultaneous games of Battle of the Bulge early in the design process.

This feature will allow a player to juggle several games with a variety of friends, hopefully turning the grim realities of war into a fun, social gameplay experience.
