Beamdog pulls classic RPG Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition from the App Store because of 'contractual issues'

Android version now stuck in limbo

Beamdog pulls classic RPG Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition from the App Store because of 'contractual issues'

If you've been waiting patiently for the Android version of Beamdog's Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition to surface on the Google Play Store, then look away now. Right, come back. Please.

That's because the iOS version of the game has been pulled from the App Store by Beamdog at the behest of its publishing partner.

In an open letter to the Baldur's Gate community, Beamdog president Trent Oster stated that his company is attempting "to resolve a number of contractual issues" regarding this matter.

This, in turn, means that development of the Android version has been put on hold and that a forthcoming patch for the iOS version isn't going to appear on the App Store any time soon.

Said patch was supposed to contain more than 100 gameplay tweaks and boast an updated UI for the touchscreen version of BioWare's RPG classic.

The planned enhanced edition of Baldur's Gate II for mobile has also been put on hold for the time being.

Beamdog is unable to go into detail about the "complex legal matters" regarding Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, which means we're not entirely sure when the game will go on sale again.

If you've already purchased Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition from the App Store, though, you should still be able to download it from the 'Purchased' tab in the App Store app.

There's an FAQ section up on the official Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition website that you might find useful, by the way.

We'll let you know as soon as we have any more details about if and when Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will return to the App Store.
