Developer of the Silver Award-winning Sky Tourist Three Legged Egg has soft-launched Badass Trial Race on the New Zealand App Store today.

It plays like Trials in that you use accelerate, brake, and bike lean to get your trial bike across side-scrolling obstacle courses.

It's much cleaner in look and doesn't quite feel as aggressive as RedLynx's famous trial bike racer, though. What it does have is magnetic tracks that stick your tyres to the track at any angle. It allows for some fantastically winding courses.

What it does share with Trials Frontier in particular, however, is its free to play design.

Yep, each run costs you fuel, and if you run out then you can either watch ads, use IAPs, or wait a couple of minutes for your fuel to refill.

There are also large adverts that appear at the start of each run. You'll need to hit the cross button to get rid of these.

All of this design makes the game feel a bit icky - you're constantly worrying about hitting an advert, or running out of fuel.

If you don't mind that then you may find a game that will hold your interest for a while. There will be 80 levels to take on the final version so it should last you a far amount of time.

There are also eight different vehicles to unlock by trading the stars you collect in the levels (or purchase). Different gear for your rider can also be purchased if you wish.

You can download Badass Trial Race right now from the New Zealand App Store. It will release globally on iOS later in the year.
