American football tacklebox game Backbreaker has been a big success on iPhone with over 1.5 million downloads.

It’s been critically acclaimed too. I thoroughly enjoyed it, saying, “Graphically, it's one of the most polished games yet seen on the App Store, and when you consider it only costs 99c, it offers up some of the best value too.”

And with the addition of higher resolution graphics, greater quality player and stadium models, and advanced effects such as picture-in-picture jumbotrons (big stadium TVs to you and me), it’s coming to iPad too.

“Seeing Backbreaker HD on iPad is a revelation,” said Torsten Reil, CEO of NaturalMotion.

“In addition to the stunning visual fidelity of the game, the experience of running down the football field and being tackled on such a large screen is simply amazing. The iPad allows us to keep the pick-up-and-play nature of the original game, while at creating an experience that is unrivaled on a mobile device."

Backbreaker HD is available now, priced $2.99, €2.39 or £1.79.
