You have to wonder if anyone at Gameloft ever gets any sleep.

Or, more likely, if they're constantly burning the candle at both ends to retain the position of world's most prolific developer of console-inspired mobile games.

Hot on the heels of the announcement trailer for Modern Combat 5, and the first screenshots of Brothers in Arms 3, Gameloft has now released the first details about Asphalt 8: Airborne, the latest entry in the high-octane racing franchise.

And it's certainly looking set to live up to its subtitle, with a teaser trailer (which we've embedded below) showing off ridiculous jumps and stunts. They're all thanks to the brand new physics engine that's humming underneath the gorgeous graphics.

And it's not just better physics that Gameloft has added to the game.

There are eight brand new tracks for you to race on, set in globe trotting locations from Nevada to Iceland via London and Tokyo. A ninth bonus track is a revamped version of Monaco from Silver Award-winning Asphalt 7: Heat.

As well as alternate routes and short cuts, each of these tracks features environmental effects that change the way your car handles. So you might be aquaplaning after a heavy downpour or sliding around on fresh snow.

There are three multiplayer modes as well, both synchronous and asynchronous. Takedown returns from Asphalt 7: Heat, and it's joined by two new games, Infected and Gate Drift. Infected is essentially a game of tag, while Gate Drift is, as you might imagine, about drifting through gates.

Last but not least, Gameloft has revealed that Asphalt 8: Airborne will cost 69p/99c when it hits the App Store in the not-too-distant future.

There's no release date yet, beyond the vague "summer", and no confirmed platforms either, but if Gameloft sticks to form we'd expect the game to hit the App Store first, followed by a Google Play version not too long after.
