Announced at the recently aired Game Awards 2022, Among Us’s latest update brings a brand new way to play the game that switches up the formula of the typical loop in a really interesting way. What if instead of a social deduction game where you must root out the baddie amongst your group, you were instead hiding from a horrifically mutated monster out to slay you?

Just to clarify, if you somehow aren’t familiar with the mechanics of Among Us, the game typically sees a group of normal “Crewmates” having to determine who amongst them is the “imposter”, while the Imposter seeks to murder each of them in secrecy. It’s a basic gameplay loop, but really fun with a good group.

Got that? Good, now throw it out of the window entirely, because that’s what the new Hide and Seek game mode does. Instead, you and the non-monsters are all on a team but only by gameplay alone. There’s no real cooperation here, it’s just you trying to find a quiet place to dig in while the monster roams the halls looking to hunt you all down while your teammates are doing the same thing.

It’s a really interesting way to mix up the gameplay of Among Us and is sure to make the game even more engaging than it already is, giving players more options to enjoy Among Us with their friends. Not to mention, the design of the monster is rather creepy, taking on the look of a severely mutated version of your average crewmate with a huge, gaping mouth that holds a massive row of teeth determined to chew on you.

The best part of this news is that this new update is available right now! If you’d like to try it out yourself, give Among Us a download for free at either of the links below!
