Praise be to the Mothersheep

Save sheep and blast aliens in the ZX Spectrum-style Air Supply - SOS (Save Our Sheep) out now on iOS

Quantum Sheep's latest game in its Air Supply series involves saving sheep with a jetpack and a blaster from a time-travelling clothing company.

Inspired by the ZX Spectrum title Jetpac, Air Supply - SOS (Save Our Sheep) should bring back plenty of memories of retro gaming. You know, if you were around and playing games in the '80s.

It's a straight up arcade shooter, then. Sheep fall from the sky, you snatch them before the timer runs out and take them to your rocket.

Having upwards thrust and shoot might take a little getting used to, but otherwise, it works pretty well. You just get used to tapping it to shoot, and holding it down to thrust.

In any case, if the game doesn't stick straight away, you'll probably want to hang around just to hear the fantastic, chaotic chiptunes. Some seriously great music here.

Anyway, as you're in space, you need to grab oxygen to survive while grabbing sheep. You also need to dodge the aliens that fly at you and across the screen (obviously).

Of course, being Spectrum-inspired, the game has plenty of amusing elements; the Mothersheep (mothership) being one of them. It has a lot of personality, actually.
Plenty of unlocks, too. They come in the form of 20 playable characters, ten different planets, ten monochrome colours, and 16 perks to choose before you head into battle.

If you love arcade shooters and Spectrum-style games then I reckon Air Supply - SOS (Save Our Sheep) is worth picking up.

You can grab it for £1.49 / $1.99 on the App Store right now.
